“OKOWA MAMA & PIKIN KIT”: ISIOMA OKOBAH FOUNDATION BRINGS DOWN MATERNAL MORTALITY RATES IN DELTA

In a bid to encourage pregnant women to seek antenatal care and skilled birth attendants, so as to curtail infant and maternal mortality, the Isioma Okobah Foundation’s free health facility located in Igbodo Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, recently recorded a massive influx of pregnant women for family planning, antenatal care and baby deliveries, bringing down infant and maternal mortality which usually accompanies baby deliveries without the services of skilled birth attendants.

The foundation has also enrolled a good number of youths for skill acquisition and job creation, in their areas of interest and specialization.

The “Okowa Mama & Pikin Kit”, courtesy of the Isioma Okobah Foundation, is meant to encourage pregnant women to seek antenatal care and skilled birth attendants from any Health Facility in line with the Health For All Deltans policy of the Delta State Government under the administration of Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

The OKOWA MAMA & PIKIN KIT which is presented to nursing mothers for themselves and the newborns upon delivery, contains mother and baby items including Mattress, Bath Tub, Mosquito Nets, Baby Clothes, Rappers, Diapers, Burp cloths, Powder, Cream, among others.
